Our team

Our team of vets and nurses have trained hard to be the best in our fields, and we continue to maintain and expand our knowledge and skills at every opportunity.

Dr Jenny Warland – Head Veterinarian

I graduated from the University of Sydney and have worked in the Newcastle area as a vet for over 25 years, joining our wonderful Dr Paws team in 2021. I have special interests in surgery and behavioural medicine, and also love getting to know our clients and their beautiful pets. Animals have always brought me so much love and joy, so I feel very blessed to be able to spend my life caring for them.

At home I live with my 2 young adult children, my 2 fluffy children (Holly and Daisy the Bernese Mountain Dogs), a Bearded Dragon called Smaug and lots of tropical fish (along with occasional rehabilitating wildlife). When I am not at work I spend my time renovating my house, meeting up with friends, taking part in church activities and occasionally finding time for Art or craft projects. I have a great appreciation for good coffee and am a frequent visitor to our wonderful local cafes, often with Daisy and Holly in tow.

Dr Chloe Hamilton – Veterinarian

I started in December 2023. I graduated from the University of Sydney in 2023 with a Bachelor of Veterinary Biology/Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. I have a keen interest in animal nutrition having worked in pet retail for over 10 years while completing my studies. I also have a particular love for our feline companions.

Eleanor Foley – Practice Manager

I have a keen interest in some of the more weird and wonderful animals that come into our clinic as I have owned exotics in the past. I’m looking forward to what the future holds with me here at the clinic and getting to know more of the Newcastle area along with the amazing locals and all their lovely pets.

Emelie Pollard – Veterinary Nurse

I enjoy all aspects of nursing but I have a particular interest in hospital and treatment nursing, where I can spend the time comforting our sick and injured animals. Emelie is currently on maternity leave.

Samantha Hedges – Veterinary Nurse

I love working here and enjoy meeting and caring for all of the animals that come into the practice. I like to make each one feel safe and comfortable on their visit.

Virginia Evans – Receptionist

I came into the veterinary industry in 2006 after a long career in the police force.
I have always loved animals and had completed a research paper re human/pet relationships as part of my social welfare degree. This increased my interest.
In 2007 I was awarded a TAFE medal in veterinary nursing, however I had no intention of actually working in the field at the time.

Taryn – Veterinary Nurse

I completed my Veterinary nursing certificate in 2024 and have already discovered a strong interest in all things surgical from routine to more complex cases. I’m passionate about animal care and love being able to support both pets and owners through every stage of life.

I’m known for bringing a sense of humor to the clinic, but I’m completely serious when it comes to providing the best care possible for your furry friends.

When I’m not at work, I’m kept busy by Willow, my white German Shepherd and Larry, my ginger cat, who definitely runs the house and keeps me humble!

Tylah – Veterinary Nurse

’m passionate about all areas of veterinary nursing, but anaesthesia and hospital care hold a special place in my heart. I love making sure every patient in our hospital feels safe, comfortable, and cared for during their stay. At home, you’ll usually find me curled up with a good book or spending quality time with my feisty ginger cat, Hazel, and my loving Cavoodle, Rubi.
